The crazy thing about hobbies is you can always change your mind and try something else. Many people think trying a hobby green house is just too expensive because if you don’t like it you have put all this money out with no return. While I can appreciate that argument, my wife has a sewing machine and fabric up to her eyebrows that never gets used, though the intent is there, that cost a small fortune and just like that sewing machine, a green house can always be sold if it doesn’t work out.

However, there is also another way to experience the beauty of extending the growing season without investing in a large greenhouse and that’s the use of a winter cold frame. You can use the flowerbeds or garden that you currently have and utilize the clod frame to cover a small section of produce throughout the late fall and early winter. Though this will give you only a taste of what a larger green house will do, it allows you to see if this is really something you can sink your teeth into; no pun intended. Once you determine that growing year round is for you then you can then take the next step to purchase a larger greenhouse.
