It is easy to get overwhelmed with the amount of things you can buy on the internet in the modern world. It also can be stressful trying to find that perfect item for a new home. The Japanese even have their own form of art just for decorating a room, called feng shui. Here are a few tips for finding that special housewarming gift.
1. Match the house, or at least the main room. Is the theme of the home more modern, or reserved and classy? You don’t want to furnish a house with a lava lamp if it looks like an antique.
2. What personality do the homeowners have? Are they outgoing, or quiet? If outgoing, you should buy something new and more abstract; if quiet, something more neutral and plain.
3. Are they a wealthy couple? Don’t try to woo them with something you spent a bit of money on, just because it was expensive. You will need to think of something unique that no one else would think of. Something cute like a candy dispenser.
4. Don’t give them old furniture. Nothing insults a new neighbor more than giving them hand-me-downs. If you can part with it, the other person probably doesn’t want it either.
5. Don’t buy the first cool thing you see, wait a bit, because you might find something better for a great housewarming gift, like a gift basket.
