I’m always trying to balance our kid’s lunches with a good sandwich on whole grain bread, some fruit or veggies to munch on, a drink and a small snack or treat. As most parents have found, getting them to eat veggies can be pretty tricky. Luckily our kids love fruits, but the green stuff sends them running. There are recipes available that list all of the different ways you can sneak vegetables into someone’s diet, such as pureeing veggies and mixing them into a standard dish like macaroni and cheese. But I was recently looking for some school snack options and found quite a lot of choices in the dry foods sections. So I thought I’d try making some of my own versions with my Electric Food Dehydrator.

With this machine, I can make fruit snacks for my children without such scary ingredients as mineral oil, food dyes, and other such things. Plus I’m going to try to dehydrate some good greens with some added flavors to see if I can get my kids to eat some more veggies if they’re nice and crunchy. I’ve owned this small kitchen appliance for awhile now & have had great success making my own herbs and spices, so I figure it will be a snap to experiment with fruits and veggies to make some healthy treats for the family.
